Poems for Mavi - on her birthday!

For Mavi Everyday we rise and shine to see our day go by, Something new, something true, Learning things we never knew. As a wife, as a mother, I see you, With a smile, being true. Your patience and love has been much above with the purity of a dove. You are my Mavi, I received the day I wed your son, And I just want to thank you Mavi, for the things you have done. You have given me a gracious man, with whom I share a life, You are his lovely mother and I am his lucky wife. You used to pat his little head, and now I hold his hand you raised in love a little boy, then gave me a man ! For Meena (From Nimmi) Friends from school, friends for life, Thrilled my daughter is your son s wife. A small world but so much joy, Couldn't ask for more from your boy. We make our memories and together we come, Always for our family hum. So here are my wishes to you I write, May your life be cheerful and bright, From one grandma to another I cheer, But more to my friend, ...

Mum in law with a balance!

Day 40…   #100daysofhappiness   #100happydays Have you ever struggled to write especially knowing that you are writing about your mother-in-law? So what needs to be said should be drafted with care yet with honesty and with all our heart. So does that mean will I be mincing words and false playing? Absolutely not, cause one thing I maintain in principle, that anytime I write only ‘truth be told’! So   here goes… The world has seen her experience life from being KT Meena to Meena Appaiah. This convent girl, has been a loving daughter to wonderful parents, whom she fondly remembers even today. She has always been an obliging and dependable sister and aunt. She married young, but being in wedlock with her college sweetheart, made the journey memorable. Balancing a family and keeping bonds together is a herculean task, but her simplicity and thoughtfulness has given new meanings to these relationships as a daughter-in law, sister- in law or as an aunt.   To...

Warmth bundled in a family!

Day 39…   ‪#‎ 100daysofhappiness   ‪#‎ 100happydays Its been 35 years I am told that this couple has been married for and I am simply amazed every time I meet them. Having known a lot of folks from my parents’ circle, it was rare for me to meet a couple whose love for each other is not marked merely by respect and understanding. In them you can actually see the adoration in each other’s eyes… and what is fascinating is how the spark seems to just grow with time. Yatish Uncle in   many ways is similar to my dad (if you know my dad your eyes must have popped, but I was not referring to his height, but their personality). There is an unusual charm, ability to laugh and be laughed at, affectionate, the perfect Army officer, the cheerful icebreaker for any gathering, all of which is hard to miss. His quick wit and ability to spread that much wanted comfort with absolutely anybody – age no bar is something so rare. While his cheer is prevalent, his ideologies and righ...

Daddy of mine!

Day 38.. ‪#‎ 100happydays   ‪#‎ 100daysofhappiness Can you imagine gifting someone a dozen eggs on their birthday? Don’t be surprised as I had done just that and to my surprise the reaction was fabulous. It was for my dad, whose birthday it is today. He would have been 67 years today, an age I somehow find it hard to imagine. Most folks used to feel that I used to look exactly like him, though I always wanted to look like Mum. Today everyone says I look like a replica of Mum and I secretly wish that I have atleast my Dad’s personality to keep with me. My post today should ideally be a free flow, but I still struggle. Not because it’s an effort to talk about my dad, but because in my attempt to capture all his greatness, I do feel challenged. He is our dad, loved husband, a forever friend and the rock of the extended family. With him we have earned so much in life and after him lost as well in the form of relationships, but we have understood, what has stayed with us, is his...

Day to cherish!

Day 37.. ‪#‎ 100happydays   ‪#‎ 100daysofhappiness   Years have passed, with new crossroads, obstacles, responsibilities and experiences. But somethings just remain the same... pure, simple, memorable and unconditional. While treading down memory lane is almost inevitable with ki reminiscing our Pune days...our heartfelt conversations make these 'pick me up days' much anticipated and awaited. It was a complete 'me time' day with my bestie   Krithika Akkaraju . Couldnt have asked for a more perfect day..and a memorable way to have our first catch up in 2015. Oodles of laughter, large doses of pk joy, generous servings at tgif, soul conversations, retail therapy for us fashionistas and the eagerness to meet again soon... which naturally featured in our resolutions. So here s to such a fun day and look forward to many more

Promises that make wonderful learnings!

Day 36... ‪#‎ 100daysofhappiness   ‪#‎ 100happydays Facebook has actually done a fantastic job in capturing the year gone by. So I figured instead of repeating their actions, am going to ponder on learning’s from 2014 that will translate to learning’s in 2015. I did not say promises, just learning's or perhaps mantras: 1. As public as Facebook is, I continue to maintain my passion for this social media.   2. Writing around '100 days' and more have given me a new perspective to not just writing but also the way I look at relationships. So look forward to many more! 3. Some family equations are truly forever and what make it better are the fading lines between family and friends. I am thrilled the way some friendships have grown so much over the years that they have occupied a strong position in the family circle. To ensure it’s not cluttered, it is important to choose the relationships you want to keep. For 2015, guard the heart with relationships that matter with f...

The year that was - welcoming 2015

Day 35:   ‪#‎ 100daysofhappiness   ‪#‎ 100happydays The year that was..for all my lovelies:)                                                         If I think about the year that was, I take a breath and hold the pause Sometimes we laughed or sometimes we cried We built memories that can’t be denied. While at most times we stood to gain In career, family, health or just being sane, But a big fall, an operation or two Made us thankful for being able to pull through We had laughs and much to celebrate We built memories that we will always relate But we also had anxiety and fears With losses and pain that still bring tears. All in all we cherish this life with us That gave us th...
